Bride and Groom smiling during ceremony at Oriel House Hotel St Asaph

St Asaph Wedding Photography – Oriel Country Hotel.

I was really looking forward to photographing Ellie and Andy’s big day after doing their engagement shoot earlier this year in Conwy, North Wales. They are a lovely couple and were really easy to work with.

I got up nice and early and made my way to the Premier Inn Rhuddlan, where Ellie and her Bridesmaids were getting ready. I was in quite a lot of pain, as I had managed to somehow break my little toe on the bathroom door frame the night before, but I would never let a couple down at the last minute on their wedding day, so I hobbled on and kept smiling! I was greeted at the hotel by Ellie and was introduced to her bridesmaids. I managed to capture some natural candid moments and I also found time to take photographs of the little details that were important to the Ellie.

After Bridal prep I headed over to the Oriel Country Hotel in St Asaph, North Wales. I met with the registrar and set up for the ceremony, I also managed to have a little chat with the groom, who was understandably a bit nervous! During the ceremony I captured some natural photographs of the bride and groom smiling and laughing together, which is always nice. After the ceremony we moved into the lobby where there was a cellist playing and drinks for the guests. At this point I let the bride and groom relax and converse with their guests whilst I took some candid photographs.

After a time we headed outside for the group photographs. The bride and groom had requested a big photograph of all the guests together, so to get everyone’s face in the shot, I had to climb up a fire escape onto the hotel roof, which the guests seemed to find hilarious! I quickly took the photographs that I needed and then got straight back down, as it was slightly precarious! After the group shots, I borrowed the bride and groom for half an hour to get some nice romantic shots on their own.

The bride and groom headed in for their wedding breakfast after this and after the meal they went straight in to the speeches, which were very heartfelt and brought a few tears. The best man managed to cheer everyone up though with his stories about the groom!

After the bride and groom greeted their evening guests, they cut their cake and went straight in to the first dance.

Here are some photographs from Ellie and Andy’s day:
